Most of the people don’t know what is the difference between the normal tyre and winter tyre and why do we need to have a winter tyre? Generally the tyre used in the vehicles are summer tyres, which are made according to the summer climatic situations.Tyre which is designed for winters is mostly developed for having a smooth drive even in wet and snowy weather.

How temperature affects the grip of tyre?

When the temperature of the weather falls under the seven degree Celsius, then standard tyres loose their grip on the road. Winter tyre(in Finnish talvirengas) has a maximum percentage of natural tyre rubber and therefore is able to maintain the grip at even low temperatures. They don’t slip and can maintain a strong grip on both kinds of roads, either they run on dry roads or they run on wet or icy roads.

What law says about it?

Those countries which have intense cold weather their law requires to have a winter tyre but European countries having mild weather have no any conditions like this. Some countries prefer that a motorist should change the tyre according to the need of the season.

How to drive safe without a winter tyre?
Changing the tyre may not be economical for everyone but still some rules should be followed strictly while driving on the wintry roads. A motorist should undergo through weekly checkups. He should check that tyre (in finnish rengas) tread is not less than 1.6mm and it would be better if it is of 3mm. cracks, cuts or punctures can lead to the accidents so care should be taken to avoid them. Preventative measures are much better than facing consequences.
